Program 2010

Purpose of the New Earth Leaders program
The purpose of the NEL program is to create the kind of leadership spoken of by Tex Gunning (Board Member Akzo Nobel):

“Great Leaders are first and foremost Great Human Beings, in touch with their inner selves; their humanity. From here they are truly able to create Great Organizations that in turn
create Great Results.” (Taellberg 2007)

At its essence is the awareness that we must ‘be the change’ we want to see in the world. Great leadership comes from within but without action this inner vision remains a dream. The program is about learning to take action from inner connection, learning to lead from within, encouraging that quality of leadership in others and building an international community of like-minded leaders.

The New Earth Leaders Program is a program that links personal and organizational development. It is aimed at facilitating the development of sustainable leaders for the future, based on Earth Charter values. The New Earth Leaders program is an action learning program undertaken together with teachers and facilitators of world-class renown and integrity (see faculty). Young (business) leaders will join with peers on a learning journey that will take them from behind their desks and into the real world. They will work on a Business case; co-created with their organization; that has significant socio- economic challenges.

Central theme and question
Through the co-creation we will create the space for (business) value and relevance for participants and their organizations. Yet every New Earth Leaders program has a central question and theme on which the program builds. For the 2010 program that is;

Central question: How to lead and take action from (inner) connection to create inclusive (business) solutions? How to create the space for inclusive innovations, to create sustainable business (wealth) and to create solutions for socio-environmental challenges?

Central Theme: Inclusive business solutions for sustainable regional development. How to involve local, regional and international business to create to create the most sustainable region in the world.

Participant & Organization profile:
The New Earth Leaders Program is for young leaders with at least several years of work experience in a business environment who know that leadership begins wherever you are in the organization, who understand the need to ‘be the change’ and who want to learn how to do this in practical business reality. 

It is for the organizations to which these young leaders belong; organizations that are searching for ways of doing business; ways of creating wealth that are inclusive, considerate and respectful of both climate and people. It is for organizations aware of the need to equip their young leaders with skills that meet the challenges we face

Program countries: This program will run parallel in The Netherlands and Brazil. The group will consist of high potentials, young leaders in the business sector. The two groups will meet one another physically during the learning journey in Brazil to work on a business case related to the central theme, central question and the related organizations.
